Terra Nostra Prototype

Conception et construction of a housing prototype Master 1 AuRa Team Member Architecture, Ambiance et Culture Constructive

The Auvergne Rhône-Alpes (AuRA) team is a multidisciplinary team gathering students, teachers, researchers and professionals. I was part of the student team. During our first year of master, we designed and then we built the "Terra Nostra" housing prototype. This is an exceptional experience for students in architecture. We were led to define every detail of this project. Then we achieved its prefabrication and finally its construction.
The prototype represents a part of a collective housing
building. It shows the issues and solutions of an eco-responsible participative housing at the urban scale.
Earth and wood is used to build the project in hand. It proposes, through its programming, the provision of common spaces encouraging sociability of the neighborhood, with the development of shared activities and a pooling of services. The project is designed to evolve over time. To allow this, the prototype uses partitioning systems that are quickly removable. It enables homes to adapt over time and thus better accommodate the evolution of a family.

Beside three other students, I conceived the plans of housing. The internal and outside arrangements of the building allow to modulate spaces and we propose a new way of living in the city.
Project was realized thanks to sponsorships and partnerships, I participated in numerous forums to canvass professionals of the building so that they support the project by donations of materials. Enriching commercial and professional experience, it confronted me with one of the realities of architect's job.
Finally, I was afterward able to get involved in the manufacturing of numerous elements of the scheme and also in the coordination of the construction work during the assembly.
